    Live-In Care in Ascot

Ascot enquiries tend to come from adult children who live some distance away. The parent is still in the family home, is managing on the surface, and the family has begun to worry about the gaps: the evenings, the nights, the days when nobody visits. Live-in care fills those gaps with one person rather than a rota of strangers.

When distance is the real problem

Plenty of people in this area are not yet frail. They are isolated. Large houses set back from the road, a family spread across the country, and a week that can pass without a proper conversation. Appetite drops, medication gets muddled, and the first sign anyone notices is a fall.

A live-in carer changes the baseline. Meals get cooked and eaten, medication is prompted and recorded, and someone would notice a chest infection on day one rather than day five. For a family living two hours away, that is usually what they are actually buying.

    • Regular meals, hydration and medication prompting
    • Early notice of changes, passed to the GP surgery
    • Daily notes the family can read from anywhere
    • An on call manager out of hours on 07403 862037

Care that does not take over

The commonest fear we hear in this area is that a carer moving in will mean losing control of the house. It is a fair worry and it is the thing we plan around most carefully at the assessment.

A good live-in carer does the amount that is needed and no more. If your mother still wants to make her own breakfast and pay her own bills, that stays hers. The care plan records what she wants to keep doing as clearly as it records what she needs help with, and it is reviewed as that balance shifts.

Matching for personality, not just tasks

Someone is going to be living in the house, so temperament matters as much as skill. At the assessment we ask about the household's rhythm: how quiet it is, whether the television is on, what time people eat, what the dog needs, whether your parent wants company all day or an hour of conversation and then peace.

You meet the proposed carer before anything is agreed, and if it does not feel right we propose someone else at no charge.

    • A free home visit before any commitment
    • An introduction to the proposed carer, at home
    • No charge to change carer if the match is wrong

    Frequently asked questions

My father does not think he needs anyone. How do we start?

Usually not by arguing. A short trial, help framed as housekeeping and driving rather than care, or a couple of hourly visits first, tends to work better. Our guide on talking to a parent about care goes through this in detail.

We live abroad. Can you keep us updated?

Yes. Daily notes are kept in the home and your care manager will phone or email you to an agreed pattern, and immediately if anything changes.

Do you cover Sunningdale and Sunninghill too?

Yes, along with Ascot itself and the surrounding villages. Our office is in Egham, a short drive away.

Can the carer manage a large house?

They keep the lived in parts running: cooking, laundry, washing up, tidying and bed changing. A large property normally keeps its existing cleaner for the heavier work.

What if my mother's needs increase later?

The care plan is reviewed and adjusted. If needs move beyond what one live-in carer can safely cover, for example regular help through the night, we say so and quote for a different arrangement rather than stretch the placement.

    Is there a minimum term?

No. Notice is one week, there is no minimum contract and there is no exit fee.
