Live-in care costs between £1,250 and £1,350 a week for one person. The live-in carer takes a 2-hour break every day. The weekly fee depends on who covers that break. The fee covers personal care, meals, companionship, medication support and the other tasks in your assessed care plan, and Reedsfield arranges replacement carers when needed. Groceries and approved expenses are separate. Your care agreement sets out the fee that applies to you.

The live-in carer sleeps at night and can be woken for occasional assistance as set out in your care plan. This is not waking-night care. If the carer is woken or has to get up more than three times in a night, we promptly assess whether separate waking-night care or a staffed 24-hour rota is needed. That would be outside the weekly fee and agreed with you in writing before it starts. Extra charges are never added automatically.
A private bedroom for the carer and reasonable use of the bathroom, kitchen, laundry facilities and utilities at no charge. The carer brings or buys their own food; there is no food allowance.

View all locationsThey follow the routine your relative already has. Mornings usually mean help to get up, wash, dress and take medication. Through the day they cook, shop, do the laundry, keep the house tidy, support mobility around the home and go along to appointments or out for a walk. Evenings are quieter, and overnight they sleep in the house and are there if help is needed.
The carer needs their own bedroom in the house with somewhere to keep their things, plus bathroom access, use of the kitchen and wifi. The room does not need to be large or newly decorated.
Each day the carer takes around two hours of break, usually while your relative is resting. Reedsfield arranges replacement carers when needed.
For one person, live-in care and a mid range care home are usually broadly comparable. Our live-in fees start at £1,250 a week for one person with standard support. For a couple, live-in is normally much cheaper, because one carer supports both partners rather than paying for two residential places.
We visit at home first, free of charge, and talk about the person as well as the tasks: what they did for a living, whether the house is quiet or busy, pets, food, faith, whether they would prefer someone chatty or someone calm. We then propose a carer and you meet them before anything is agreed.
Tell your care manager and we change the carer, at no charge. It is usually about personality rather than competence and it is much better raised early. The client can end care with 14 days' written notice. Reedsfield normally gives at least 28 days' notice where it can no longer safely provide care, and helps arrange a safe handover. There is no minimum contract.
No. The carer sleeps in the house and is there if your relative needs help in the night. If someone needs regular help through the night, that is a waking night arrangement and we quote for it separately rather than expect one carer to cover it.
