Our commitment to net zero and the environment
Reedsfield Care provides home care and live-in care in Egham, Staines, Ashford, Sunbury, Shepperton and Virginia Water. We want to reduce the environmental impact of our work. We will never do that at the expense of the safety, dignity or wellbeing of the people we support.
Our goal
We are working towards net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in line with the UK's legal target. We expect most of our emissions to come from travel, energy used in our office and the supplies we buy. We will measure where we are now, set interim targets that fit our business, and report our progress on this page.
What we aim to do
- Measure and reduce our footprint. Track greenhouse gas emissions from our business activities and reduce them over time.
- Reduce travel. Plan carer placements and visits efficiently, use remote meetings and digital recruitment where suitable, and encourage lower-emission travel.
- Use less energy. Cut unnecessary electricity and heating use in our office.
- Use less paper. Use digital care records and online training where we can, and recycle responsibly.
- Care in the home. Encourage environmentally responsible habits in clients' homes only where they respect each person's dignity, independence, preferences and care needs.
- Buy responsibly. Consider suppliers' environmental performance and choose products and services with a lower environmental impact where it is reasonably practicable.
- Involve our team. Include environmental awareness in staff induction, training and internal communications.
- Be accountable. Review our progress at least once a year, comply with environmental legislation, and take account of national and local sustainability priorities.
How we will report
We review these objectives every year and will update this page with what we have done and any targets we set.
