Yes, Reedsfield Care provides live in care in Middlesex, in the Spelthorne part of the historic county. One employed, DBS checked carer lives in your home and supports you day to day, from £1,300 a week. We are based in Egham and rated Good by the CQC. When people search for live-in care in Middlesex from this corner of the map, they usually mean Spelthorne: Ashford, Staines-upon-Thames, Sunbury-on-Thames and Shepperton. These towns were part of the old county of Middlesex until 1965 and have been run by Surrey County Council ever since, which matters more than the postal address when it comes to funding. Reedsfield Care is based in Egham and rated Good by the Care Quality Commission, and these four towns are half of the patch we genuinely cover. We do not cover the whole of historic Middlesex, and this page says plainly where we can and cannot help.
Where we provide live-in care, and where we do not
Our live-in cover runs across the four Spelthorne towns and the streets around them, plus Egham and Virginia Water on the Runnymede side. Those six towns sit within a short drive of our office, which is what lets a care manager visit a live-in placement in person, sort out a problem the same day and swap a carer quickly if a match is not working.
We do not provide live-in care in Hounslow, Ealing, Hillingdon, Harrow or the other London boroughs that also used to be Middlesex. If you are searching for one of those areas, a local agency will serve you better, and the CQC website lists every registered provider by postcode.
If you are not sure whether a particular road is inside our patch, ring the office on 01784 740078. We would rather tell you honestly on the first call than stretch our carers too thin.

Why the Middlesex label matters less than the council
Families are often surprised to find that a Staines or Ashford address is handled by Surrey County Council, not a London borough. Spelthorne Borough Council deals with housing, bins and local services, but adult social care, including needs assessments and council-funded care, sits with Surrey.
That has two practical consequences for live-in care. First, if your relative might qualify for help with fees, the needs assessment and financial assessment are requested through Surrey County Council, whichever old county name is on the envelope. Second, Surrey's rules on how capital, income and the family home are counted follow the national Care Act guidance, so the same thresholds apply here as anywhere else in England.
Attendance Allowance is separate from the council and is not means tested. Many people who need a live-in carer qualify for it and have never claimed. It can go towards the cost of care, and the GOV.UK page explains the two rates and how to apply.
Live-in care means one carer living in the home, usually for a run of several weeks, with a second carer covering their breaks and time off. In practice that carer shapes the day around the person, not a rota: breakfast when they are ready, a walk along the Thames path at Shepperton or Sunbury Lock if they enjoy it, a trip to the shops in Staines, company through the afternoon and help to settle at night.
Personal care, medication prompts, meals, laundry and light housework are all part of the role. The carer also becomes the person who notices small changes first, a poor appetite, a new cough, a dressing that looks different, and raises them with the family and the GP surgery.
The housing stock in these towns ranges from post-war semis around Ashford Common to riverside bungalows in Shepperton and flats close to Staines town centre. What matters for live-in care is simply a private bedroom for the carer, access to a kitchen and bathroom, and somewhere they can take a break.
A private bedroom for the carer is essential
Wi-Fi or a phone signal so the carer can reach the office
Space to store equipment such as a hoist or commode if needed
Live-in care in Runnymede: Egham and Virginia Water
This section covers the Runnymede side of our patch, because families in Egham and Virginia Water often search for live-in care in Surrey rather than Middlesex and land here. Rather than run a second page that repeats the same service, we have kept it together.
Egham is where our office is, so live-in placements there and in Englefield Green and Thorpe are the easiest for a care manager to visit. Virginia Water homes tend to be larger and more spread out, often down private roads, and a live-in carer can be the more practical choice there than several visits a day that each involve a drive.
Runnymede Borough Council runs local services such as community alarms and some day activities, while adult social care assessments sit with Surrey County Council, exactly as in Spelthorne. The funding route, the thresholds and the prices below are the same on both sides of the patch.
Our live-in care starts from £1,300 a week for one person with standard support. That covers the carer's time, the relief carer who steps in for breaks, and the care management behind the placement. The exact figure depends on the level of need, whether nights are usually broken, and whether two people are being supported.
We give every family an itemised weekly quote in writing after a free assessment visit. There is no joining fee. If live-in care turns out to be more than your relative needs, weekday daytime home care from £28 an hour for weekday daytime care may be a better fit, and we will say so.

How a placement starts
The first step is a phone call to talk through what is happening and what your relative wants. A care manager then visits the home, meets your relative and the family, looks at the practical set-up and writes a care plan that everyone agrees before the carer arrives.
We match carers on personality and experience as well as availability. Our carers are employed by us and DBS checked, not self-employed contractors sent through an introductory agency. If the first match is not right, we change it.
Once the placement is running, the care manager reviews it regularly and the family has a direct line to the office. Plans change as needs change, and live-in care can step down to visits, or up to more support, without starting again from scratch.
Frequently asked questions
Do you cover the whole of Middlesex?
No. We cover the Spelthorne towns of Ashford, Staines, Sunbury and Shepperton, plus Egham and Virginia Water. We do not cover the London boroughs that were once part of Middlesex.
Which council handles care for a Staines or Ashford address?
Surrey County Council handles adult social care for all of Spelthorne, including needs assessments and council-funded care.
How much is live-in care?
From £1,300 a week for one person with standard support. We confirm the exact cost in writing after a free assessment.
Do you also cover Egham and Virginia Water?
Yes. Our office is in Egham and both towns are part of our core patch, with the same prices and the same service.
Does the carer need their own room?
Yes. A private bedroom for the carer is essential for live-in care, along with access to a kitchen and bathroom.
How quickly can live in care start in Middlesex?
In urgent situations we can often arrange care quickly; call us to discuss start dates. Planned placements start once we have found the right carer.
Is live in care the same as 24 hour care?
Not quite. A live-in carer lives in the home and has breaks and sleep. If help is needed most nights, a waking night carer can be added.
