What to look for in the house
Walk through the house rather than sitting in the front room. The kitchen, bathroom and laundry tell you more in five minutes than an hour of conversation.
- Out-of-date or untouched food; a freezer full of the same meal
- Unopened post, red bills, or repeat letters from the surgery
- Medication left in the blister pack past its day
- Bruising, or furniture moved to act as handholds
- Laundry piling up, or clothes worn several days running
- Scorched pans, or a kettle boiled dry
